In the press: Monica Kapur discusses West Midlands business confidence
Monica Kapur, Director and Solicitor at Isadore Goldman and Chair of R3 Midlands, has commented in the Express & Star on the latest figures examining the health of businesses across the West Midlands.
R3’s latest Quarterly Business Health report paints a mixed picture for the region. New company registrations fell by 8% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, while the number of businesses entering insolvency-related processes was also down, falling by 12% compared with the same period last year.
The figures suggest that while fewer businesses are entering formal distress processes, entrepreneurs remain cautious about starting new ventures amid pressures including employment costs, geopolitical uncertainty, consumer demand and cashflow.
Monica also highlighted the importance of both supporting existing businesses and maintaining a healthy pipeline of new enterprises if sustainable economic growth is to be achieved.
